A Bed and Breakfast Grows from Papers in a Shoebox to a Point of Sale System

A disorganized but creative entrepreneur consulted Accounting Services' Suzi White for help with putting his bed and breakfast facility on a more secure financial footing. His dream was to create a franchise of intimate bed and breakfasts along the Front Range that would cater to the overnight business man or woman who wanted the comforts of home. When he approached Suzi, all he had was a newly opened facility and a shoebox of papers.

Suzi began by using her client's checkbook to create a financial statement. Gradually, she organized his records, payroll, prepared his quarterly taxes, assisted with a partnership agreement when two partners came on board, and advised the client on a computerized accounting POS (point of sale) system so he could efficiently track transactions and reservations.

Business is booming and the client now has two bed and breakfasts, and is planning on opening a third. Suzi's client consults regularly with her so that work flow is streamlined and his financial picture remains profitable. The client has since bought out one of the working partners, and Suzi continues to work with both entities.
