GHB’s governmental team helps an entity stay out of the news

When the economy is tight, the public increasingly scrutinizes governmental entities’ administrative costs, compliance and processes for transparency. They want services, not what is seen as government excesses. Despite the best processes in place, mistakes can occur.

A municipal board approached our Governmental partner after experiencing some negative press concerning policies and procedures that were not as transparent as the public would like. The newspaper alleged that an existing policy that included stipends for spousal travel seemed a frivolous use of public funds. Our governmental team analyzed the entity’s policies and procedures and made proactive recommendations to the municipal board who accepted our suggestions. We advised on damage control, tightened internal controls, ensured proactive processes and policies are now in place, and helped the entity avoid becoming front page news again.
