Information Technology: Bringing Process and Procedure to a Firm's IT Needs for Increased Profitability

A rapidly growing, professional services firm with multiple office locations and related business entities approached our Information Technology department. They needed a new accounting system and upgraded software in order to more accurately track data, recoup costs and increase profitability. Our Information Technology department analyzed their operating procedures to determine the best software solution for their needs. They installed a MAS 200 software system, the top choice for many mid-sized businesses; and reconfigured their existing models, which were too general for the firm's needs. Our consultants linked the multiple locations to one server and one office, which now operates as the company's "financial nerve center" to facilitate the control and review of all the offices.

Our IT department is currently focusing on developing the foundation for a management reporting package designed for isolating efficiency issues. The result of the new system and software upgrade is that the numerous related entities and offices run more efficiently from one server, eliminating the need for a controller at each remote location. The firm has shown increased profitability as our IT staff are able to quickly pinpoint areas needing special attention, and can promptly analyze firm data to determine cost recovery, which was a major issue for the firm.

Our consultants originally took control of the daily operational issues, built an accounting department, trained the firm's personnel, and now continue to "troubleshoot" the system and provide back-up assistance from our GHB location.
